LORD Mayor Coun Alan Law visited a new sit-in city centre office for customers of a Sheffield taxi firm.

Mercury Taxis’ new office at 5 Charter Square officially opens today and will provide customers with a safe, warm and convenient location to wait for a cab.

Marketing manager Peter Holmes said: “We are delighted to be opening a new office in the city centre.

“It’s in a key location - just up from Nocturnal Nightclub and the old Grosvenor Hotel – and will be the place to head for a safe and friendly journey home.

“Our customers can also be secure in the knowledge that the price they are quoted for a journey will be the price they pay.”

Coun Law said: “I am really pleased to welcome Mercury Taxis into their new city centre office.

“Taxis play an important role in this busy city.

“They provide a safe, reliable and convenient service for shoppers, business people and those taking advantage of the city’s vibrant nightlife.”
