Residents of Brimington, Tapton and Hollingwood have been urged to vote in the upcoming county council by-election.
The by-election for the Brimington ward of Derbyshire County Council takes place on Thursday.
Postal votes have been delivered to everyone who is registered to vote by post at this election.
The candidates are John Edward Ahern – Lib Dem, Mick Bagshaw – Independent, Tricia Gilby – Labour, Lewis Mark Preston – Conservative and Paul Christopher Stone – UKIP.
Huw Bowen, Chesterfield Council’s returning officer, said: “This is their opportunity to exercise their democratic right to vote and decide who they want to represent them on the county council for the next two years.”
The by-election was called following the death of Walter Burrows in October.
The former miner represented Brimington on Derbyshire County Council for 21 years.
He was a member of the Labour Party for 50 years, before passing away at the age of 80 in October.
