Buy food for the homeless

Shoppers at Sainsbury’s in Archers Road, Millhouses, are being encouraged to buy and donate one item this weekend to help feed the homeless in a charity trial scheme with FareShare.

The charity delivers surplus food, which would otherwise be thrown away, to homeless shelters, schools and hostels.

“Anything donated by customers in Archer Road will go to the FareShare depot in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, for redistribution to local charities,” said Sainsbury’s retail and logistics director, Roger Burnley.

The trial is this weekend.
