Busy bee Kieran’s honour
Kieran Waite (8), who attends Warmsworth Primary School, won a Doncaster schools competition run by the local police community support officer, Scott Christie, last year. Youngsters had to design a logo for the campaign to stop people parking on yellow lines and zig zag lines outside school gates. Kierans design of a bumble bee, called PC Bumble, won him first prize. Kieran has seen his design come to life in the shape of a large stand up figure and won a certificate, �20 of vouchers and a trophy for his school at the time. Now he has received a number of high visibility vests and white baseball caps, complete with his logo, for his school. Mr Davies said: Kieran did an excellent job designing this logo. It gives me great pleasure to present him with his schools supply of high visibility vests and baseball caps, which will help to keep Kieran and his fellow pupils safe and sound when they are walking in the area with their teachers on school visits. The eight-year-old was presented with a consignment of high visibility vests for his school, Warmsworth Primary School, after designing a logo for a campaign to stop people parking on yellow lines and zig zag lines outside school gates.
Kieran’s design of a bumble bee, called PC Bumble, was turned into a large stand up figure, and is carried on the high visibility vests issued to schools.
Mayor Peter Davies said: “Kieran did an excellent job designing this logo.”
The vest will be used by pupils to help them to be seen when they go out on school visits.
