TV and movies get £15m boost

THE television, film, games and digital industries in South Yorkshire have been given a £15 million boost to support their and create new jobs.

The Yorkshire Content Fund, managed by Screen Yorkshire, has secured £7.5m of investment from the European Regional Development Fund, which will be matched by private sector investors.

Sally Joynson, Chief Executive of Screen Yorkshire, said the fund would help to create hundreds of jobs.

Mark Herbert, managing director of Sheffield’s Warp Films, said: “Yorkshire has virtually everything you need to produce TV and film - stunning and diverse locations, skilled and experience crew and now the new Yorkshire Content Fund.

“Finance is always a critical part of getting TV or film made.”
