Trio of firms are really GO-ing places
Three South Yorkshire companies have been named among the top 100 private equity-backed businesses in the UK.
Amco Group and Frozen Value from Barnsley and GO Outdoors from Sheffield are among 14 companies in Yorkshire and the North East to gain a place in the latest Sunday Times Deloitte Buyout Track 100 rankings for companies with the fastest growing profits.
Infrastructure and drilling contractor Amco, based at Whaley Road, Barugh, is jointly owned by Endless and the company's own management and has secured fourth place nationally and second place in Yorkshire and the North East after boosting profits by 133 per cent to 21 million
Niche frozen food retailer Frozen Value, which trades as Jack Fulton from 67 shops in Yorkshire, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire and Humberside, is part owned by its management and 3i.
The company, based at Dearne Mills in Darton, has secured 36 place overall and fourth in Yorkshire and the North East with a 55 per cent increase in profit to 3 million.
Sheffield-based GO Outdoors, which is based in Hill Street, close to Bramall Lane, has secured 40th place overall and fifth in Yorkshire and the North East.
Its profits rose by 53 per cent to 3.3 million last year after it secured an 18 million refinancing package from the Bank of Scotland in 2008, which has helped to spur its growth.
