Timberplay: Pyramid tower

Timberplay is going for gold after winning a £330,000 contract to build a play area in Victoria Park, next to the athletes’ village for the 2012 Olympics.

Martyn Scholey, sales and marketing director at the Sheffield-based playground designer, said: “To win a contract to supply our play equipment right next to the Olympic Village is a considerable coup for Timberplay.

“Our play equipment will be seen and used by thousands of children from around the world during the Olympics and will remain in place for thousands more to use for many years after the 2012 Games have ended.”

Timberplay’s deal is part of a £12m contract to breath new life into Victoria Park, backed by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The play area will include Timberplay’s signature pieces, a pyramid tower and climbing forest, as well as sand and water.
