The Star Business Awards 2011: A celebration of success - VIDEO

Waiting for Video...

SUCCESS breeds success, so shout about your achievement at every opportunity.

That was the message to the 14 winners of The Star Business Awards 2011 who were hailed as “the ones who are creating jobs, growing, trading internationally and fulfilling ambitions.”

The results were revealed by comedian Clive Anderson at a black tie ceremony attended by 450 people at Sheffield City Hall.

Editor of The Star, Jeremy Clifford, said The Star Business Awards were the only awards that cover the whole of the Sheffield City Region.

He added: “Before we get to our awards, I think we should just pause, take stock and celebrate our business community’s achievements this year.

“The Sheffield City Region is fast developing a fearsome reputation as a pioneering place in which to do business.

“Only last week. the Sheffield MADE festival attracted companies and individuals from around the world in a celebration of entrepreneurship.

“We are making a name for ourselves in industry-leading technologies, especially with the businesses locating to the Advanced Manufacturing Park.

“We have much to be proud of in South Yorkshire – a region that is showing positive signs of regeneration and reinventing itself, to take on the economic challenges we face.

“We can celebrate the traditional industries in our region, but also look with excitement as the new technology-based businesses take a foothold in the county.

“Our Star Business Awards recognise all of this.

“The judges had a tough day working through the many entries to decide who should go forward on the shortlist.”

Andrea Cropley, of headline sponsors Nabarro, said the region, once synonymous with heavy industry, steel and coal, had quietly undergone a revival.

And to the winners and shortlisted entrants, she added: “You are the ones creating jobs. “You inspire other businesses around you and success breeds success, so shout about your achievements at every opportunity. Nabarro is delighted to be sponsoring The Star Business Awards.

“We believe the support of entrepreneurs, champions of innovation and those blazing a trail in new and emerging sectors are key to the continued growth and success of the region’s economy and it’s important to recognise their achievements.

“We are proud to work in a region that has a strong industrial heritage and one that has an exciting future, rich in innovation and creativity.

“Tonight’s awards are a time for celebration and optimism and a time to recognise and applaud those who excel in enterprise and to thank them for providing such a rich commercial landscape.”
