Students' art talent backed by lawyers

STUDENTS from Thomas Rotherham College have a new showcase for their work in the Sheffield offices of law firm Keeble Hawson.

Managing partner, Paul Trudgill, and the college's Emilie Scholey have launched an 'Art in the Workplace' initiative that allows the next generation of talented young artists from the college to display their work at Keeble Hawson's St James' Row offices in Sheffield.

The new venture follows a successful viewing evening in February 2009, opened by local artist Joe Scarborough.

Emilie Scholey said: "It is a fantastic opportunity for students to practice how to reflect and use feedback from staff and clients of Keeble Hawson. This will enable students to evolve as artists and sharpen their negotiating skills in selling their work."

Paul Trudgill said: "This is a project we are very keen to support. It will help the students showcase their work and reach a wider audience, with all the potential benefits that may bring such as sales and perhaps the opportunity to take part in other projects and exhibitions."

Artist Daniel Barnett, whose successes include a Princess Diana's Award and selling work alongside Damien Hirst, has already received enquires about his work, which is on show in one of Keeble Hawson's larger conference rooms.
