Store opening hours concern

PLANS for a Sainsbury’s store in a Sheffield neighbourhood are to be discussed by council licensing chiefs.

The company has applied for a licence to sell booze between 6am and midnight each day at the store, on Wortley Road, High Green.

Its proposals will be discussed at a meeting of Sheffield Council’s licensing board today.

Ecclesfield Parish Council has raised concerns the store could be open 24 hours a day.

In a letter of objection, the council said: “We are concerned about the impact the proposed hours would have.”
