IT’S straight to the top of the class for the young business brains of the future who are using their entrepreneurial skills to support St Luke’s Hospice.
After a pilot scheme in which children from Westbourne School in Broomhill raised £1,800 for Sheffield’s only hospice, the Westbourne Biz Kids project is rolling out across the city, with pupils from 11 primaries ready to make their money grow.
Each primary school will receive a £100 seed fund to get their fundraising business ventures started.
Schools taking part are Valley Park, Wisewood Community Primary School, Sacred Heart Learning, Greenhill Primary School, Tinsley Junior School, Rainbow Forge, St Marie’s, Mundella Junior, Sheffield High Junior, Totley All Saints and Hucklow Primary.
They will be mentored by staff from Airmaster Air Conditioning, Goodman Sparks, Yorkshire Bank, Creation Station, Turner and Townsend, Mercury Taxis, Wake Smith, Stagecoach Supertram, Hill Dickinson, Sheffield Eagles and TATA Steel.
“Now the project is going across the whole city there’s a chance for youngsters from all areas to show they have what it takes to be a business success, impress our judges, and make a real difference to St Luke’s patients,” said hospice community fundraising manager Fran Morley.
