Sheffield hall of residence voted tops by satisfied students

A team running a Sheffield hall of residence has been shortlisted for a top national award - thanks to the support of the students living there.

Staff at Liberty Works on Matilda Street in the city centre made the final list for Best Individual Accommodation in the 2014 National Student Housing Survey Awards, beating hundreds of rivals.

The survey quizzes over 19,000 students studying at over 200 UK universities and colleges.

Liberty Works was originally a steel works built in 1840 which was converted into student accommodation in 1994.

Regional operations manager Gary Nathan said: “This award proves that you do not have to be a brand new building with the most modern facilities to provide a happy home for your students.

“The residence team at Liberty Works have seen their customer satisfaction ratings increase year after year and the secret to their success is that they are a great team who care about our customers.

“They are passionate about what they do and the customer service they provide - they do an outstanding job every day. The team have worked really hard and I’m delighted that they have received national recognition.
