Sheffield Chamber of Commerce has praised highway maintenance contractor Amey for ensuring the majority of its contracts remain in the city region.
Amey, which was awarded the £2 billion Streets Ahead project by Sheffield Council in July, has already engaged with 70 local companies and ensured that 96 per cent of all sub-contract activity is based in the area. From the companies employed by Amey, 80 per cent are small firms, covering jobs such as scaffolding, gritting, weedspraying and drain cleaning.
