Rents will rise say surveyors

House prices in Yorkshire and Humber will remain flat over the course of next year, while the cost of renting a home should rise by around four percent, says the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

The RICS is predicting a two percent increase in the number of transactions in the region as the Bank of England-backed Funding for Lending scheme helps boost the availability of mortgage finance.

Repossessions should dip below 35,000 for the first time since 2007 as the number of possession claims and mortgages more than three months in arrears is falling.
