A dozen South Yorkshire car parks have retained a top police safety award.
Park and rides at Meadowhall, Halfway, Malin Bridge, Middlewood, Nunnery, Swinton, Elsecar, Adwick, Bentley, Doncaster North and Doncaster South have won the right to display a ‘Park Mark’ sign of quality for the next 12 months.
The park and rides, along with the car park at Rotherham Interchange, were all assessed by an independent inspector for the British Parking Association on behalf of South Yorkshire Police.
The inspector judged all had measures in place to deter criminals and create a safer environment for both the public and their vehicles.
South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive spokesman David Young said: “We are very pleased our park and rides have been judged to be of the highest standard.
“We work very hard to ensure our facilities offer a safe environment for people to leave their vehicles so they can have confidence and peace of mind.”
The awards complement those held by Wombwell and White Rose Way park and ride facilities, which are due to be reassessed later this year once they have held the award for one year. Elsecar won its award only weeks after opening late last year.
