Quadrant pedal pushers help Sheffield go green
STAFF from the Quadrant business centre on Parkway Road are among the first recruits for a £250,000 scheme to get Sheffield commuters out of their cars and on to bikes.
The scheme, funded by Sheffield City Council, the Government's Cycle Levy Fund and campaign group Get Cycling, aims to encourage 800 Sheffield commuters to cycle to work over the next two years.
Recruits will be loaned bikes for three weeks and then have an opportunity to buy them at a discounted price.
Quadrant manager Jim Coleman, is one of those who agreed to give up driving in favour of cycling to work at BikeBoost's roadshow at the centre. He said: "Given that the Quadrant was designed to be a 'green' building, it seems appropriate that we should be helping to spearhead environmental initiatives such as getting more people to cycle to work and we're always keen to be first in line to try out new ideas."
