Pupils top the bill at South Yorkshire road safety ‘Oscars’ night

South Yorkshire youngsters will be walking the red carpet tonight at the county’s annual road safety ‘Oscars’.

Celebrities from the world of music and dance will be attending the ceremony at Sheffield City Hall to perform and present the awards.

Students from 13 secondary and special educational needs schools will attend the event to receive awards for their road safety inspired productions.

As part of a road safety drama project, students were asked to devise a drama production incorporating key road safety messages.

Pupils were then asked to perform their production to their fellow pupils in each year group at school. A filmed version of the production was then entered for the Academy Awards-style competition.
