Prince's Trust salutes 'excellent' DLA Piper
DLA Piper has received a special 'Award For Excellence' from The Prince's Trust.
The award, presented to engineering and construction partner Julie Morrissy, from the firm's Sheffield office, recognises the help DLA Piper has given disadvantaged young people from across the UK to lay the foundations of a career in the building and construction sector.
Julie, who is head of DLA Piper's Engineering and Construction team in Sheffield, sits on the Business Development Executive Committee for the national 'Building Better Lives' programme.
DLA Piper is also a founding patron of the Construction and Business Leadership Group which has secured more than 2 million of income for The Prince's Trust's expanding Get Into Construction training programme which offers work placement and apprenticeship opportunities for young people.
Sarah Hertzog, head of construction and transport at The Prince's Trust said: "With the support of DLA Piper, The Trust founded the Construction and Business Services Leadership Group in 2006.
"Since then, DLA Piper has continued its high level support and has introduced new members and hosted a number of high profile events to celebrate the achievements of the group. Thanks to DLA Piper's creative approach, enthusiasm and dedication, hundreds of lives have been changed forever."
Last year, The Prince's Trust supported more than 3,000 14-30 year olds in Yorkshire and Humberside by providing a range of programmes including personal development courses, business start up finance and grants for community projects.
