A Sheffield village pub has been bought for a six-figure sum by a businessman – who lives next door.

Dean Crookes and his wife Amanda have bought The Rivelin, Tofts Lane, Rivelin, after it went on the market earlier this year.

Leisure property specialists Fleurets, who sold the pub on behalf of Punch Taverns, said the pub attracted a number of offers in excess of its £275,000 asking price.

Mr and Mrs Crookes have closed the pub and plan to reopen it after it has been refurbished.

An experienced local publican will run it on behalf of the couple, who have several other businesses.

Nick Thomas, of Fleurets, said: “The sale of the Rivelin attracted serious interest from a number of parties after it was placed on the market earlier this year.

The pub’s sale also includes an accompanying car park, former stable block, patio and beer garden.
