News In Brief: Minster concert to help hospice

THE annual Co-operative Charity Christmas Concert at Doncaster Minster raised £1,500 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in North Anston.

Music came from the Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers and Skelmanthorpe Brass Band, all proceeds from ticket sales and a raffle were donated to the hospice, and the Co-op provided festive refreshments and a selection of festive hampers as raffle prizes.

Barnardo’s thanks

SHEFFIELD residents donated 581 bags of toys to children’s charity Barnardo’s this Christmas as part of a partnership with toy giant Argos.

Residents donated their unwanted toys to the store and they were passed on to Barnardo’s shops and sold to raise money for the charity which helps disadvantaged children. Lindsey Harris from Barnardo’s said: “A huge thank you to everyone .”

Cycling challenge

DISABILITIES charity Children Today is planning a Three Cities Cycle Challenge from May 31 to June 2, from London to Amsterdam to Brussels. Participants must raise £1,500 in sponsorship, and pay a £99 fee. Email ceri@childrentoday.org.uk or call Ceri Ward on 01244 335 622.
