SHEFFIELD’S former TJ Hughes store is to be turned into three new shops, it has been confirmed.
TH Hughes moved to a smaller shop on the Moor last year as building landlord Standard Life wanted to redevelop the site.
Standard Life said: “Sportsdirect has signed a 10-year lease with Standard Life Investments for a new 20,000 sq ft store covering the entire upper ground floor of 50 High Street in Sheffield.
“The new store will be Sportsdirect’s only outlet in the city centre.
“In separate deals, Standard Life Investments has also agreed a new 10-year lease with Poundland for a 14,000 sq ft unit and a 10-year lease with British Heart Foundation for a 10,000 sq ft unit, both on the lower ground floor of 50 High Street.
“These lettings complete the retail element of Standard Life Investments’ proposed redevelopment of the four-storey building.”
