New post office set to open seven days a week

BOSSES have announced major plans to modernise one of Doncaster’s post offices.

Bentley Post Office will see its opening hours significantly extended under the plans for what has been described as an ‘open-plan’ branch at Askern Road.

It will see the Post Office open seven days a week for the first time.

The branch will be closed for refurbishment from Friday, January 11 to Tuesday, January 15 inclusive, before re-opening in its new form on Wednesday, January 16.

Post Office regional network manager for Central England, Adrian Wales, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Bentley and we are confident that the Post Office local service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

“This modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, that will see around 6,000 branches, about half the Post Office network, converting to new-style branches.

“The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”

The refurbished shop will run from an open plan counter with Post Office products and services available alongside retail transactions during shop opening hours.

Post Office customers will see opening extended by 30 hours a week including Saturday afternoons and Sundays.

There will be earlier opening times Monday to Friday and later closing times every day.

Opening hours will be 8am until 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am until 7pm on Saturday and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.

During the refurbishment the nearest alternative Post Office for Bentley residents will be at Bentley High Street.

Once the store is open customers will be able use a range of Post Office services.

They include automated banking services, bill and budget payment schemes, Post Office card account, Postal Orders and postage; inland letters and packets, inland parcels, international letters, and packages.
