A new weekend night bus is set to launch in Barnsley as part of a major review of services along a busy transport route.
Stagecoach Yorkshire is introducing the late night N27 service between Barnsley, Brierley and Grimethorpe on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings.
The service will begin in the early hours of this Sunday, August 31, with hourly buses at 12.25am, 1.25am, 2.25am and 3.25am.
It will be the second night bus in Barnsley, following the launch of the N66 service in Birdwell, Hoyland and Elsecar.
John Young, acting commercial director at Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “We’re delighted to be launching this second late night weekend service as part of a major package of improvements on our Pontefract Road routes.
“For passengers who enjoy visiting pub and clubs, or those on a night out in the town centre, it offers a safe and affordable way home to areas including Lundwood, Cudworth, Shafton, Brierley and Grimethorpe.”
The night bus is one of a number of changes being introduced by Stagecoach Yorkshire along the Pontefract Road corridor to improve punctuality and reliability.
