Media guru for Girl Geek event

Media business guru Linda Cheung will be keynote speaker at the next Girl Geek South Yorkshire dinner, to be held at Barnsley Digital Media Centre, on Thursday, October 13.

Linda Cheung left her job as an executive director at financial services firm Morgan Stanley two years ago to set up Cube Social, a ground-breaking software development company which helps busy professionals win new business through the analysis and targeted use of social media.

Creative Barnsley’s Steph Pollard said: “Linda describes herself as a recent convert to social media and in just a short space of time she has identified and met the clear need for effective software tools to help busy business people manage the sheer volume of social media out there. She is a champion of the digital age.”

Girl Geek Dinners were launched in London by software developer Sarah Blow, who was fed up of being the only woman at technical events.

Girl Geek Dinner South Yorkshire is organised by Creative Barnsley, supported by Enterprising Barnsley and open to all women working or studying in the creative, digital and technology sectors.
