A HI-TECH transporter, showcasing the best in advanced manufacturing, has travealled from Sheffield to London today to mark the launch of the 2013 Global Manufacturing Festival.

Global manufacturers, regional MPs and leading SMEs are attending the London launch of the festival which will take place at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre over three days in April.

They will hear from Boeing UK presidentSir Roger Bone, the chief executive of the EEF – the manufacturers’ organisation – Terry Scuoler and Rolls-Royce executive vice president of manufacturing, engineering and technology Hamid Mughal.

Master Cutler Neil MacDonald, who is involved in organising the festival, said: “2013 sees the third annual Global Manufacturing Festival, and the event is now firmly established on the national business calendar.

“We are delighted that this year it will be held at the AMRC, which in just a few years has become a world class research and manufacturing facility and the exemplar of what can be achieved when the private and public sector work together.

“Boeing have been partners in the venture from the start, so it is a great honour that Sir Roger Bone will be attending the official London launch of the 2013 Festival.”

The three-day festival will bring together some of the world’s leading organisations from the advanced engineering and manufacturing sectors. It will combine a trade show, conference and factory visits for attending delegates.

One of this year’s festival’s key aims will be to connect SMEs in the UK’s materials based engineering supply chains with major international customers.
