Livewires plug into Electric

Five new creative companies have moved into Electric Works, on Sheffield's Digital Campus, creating 20 new jobs and bringing the promise of more.

Newcomers are CapeUK, ISP consultancy Netsumo, Day One Marketing, Vision Solutions and Stripey Design.

Research agency CapeUK helps teachers and others working with young people to develop more creative ways of educating them and will be running a Creative Partnerships programme with around 150 schools across the region from Electric Works, in addition to managing other innovative education projects.

Netsumo is a leading UK consultancy working on behalf of Internet Service Providers and e-commerce companies, which has moved its network operations centre from Brighton to Sheffield, which will become its new technical headquarters.

Day One Marketing, is, as its name suggests, a marketing agency, while Vision Solutions develops online products, including property marketing software, and Stripey Design develops software and is just launching its first product, called 'Anithings,' designed to help school children create their own animated stories.

A number of the companies highlighted the benefits of being in the heart of a creative community as one of the attractions of Electric Works.

CapeUK operations director Jo Garnham-Parks said: "We chose Electric Works as we collaborate with a range of creative practitioners including visual and multi-media developers so we need to be at the heart of the creative and digital sector."

Vision Solutions' managing director, Nick Lightfoot, says the company has already started collaborating with others in the development.

"For us, Electric Works is all about being part of a creative community and this is already proving beneficial," said Mr Lightfoot.

"We are already working with Rocca Creative and with Artery Media, both based at Electric Works. We're also working with law firm Nabarro which is mentoring companies here."
