Generous shoppers in Sheffield have helped raise a whopping £85,000 for sick children.

Meadowhall Shopping Centre nominated The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity as its good cause for the year and held fundraisers including a pop-up sewing workshop and coast- to-coast bike ride.

Darren Pearce, from Meadowhall, said: “We are proud to be able to make such a significant contribution to the children’s hospital charity.

“The hospital benefits thousands of children and families each year from across the country and so has touched the hearts of many which is reflective in the amount raised.”

The money will go to the charity’s Make It Better Appeal to transform the hospital into a brighter, more accessible environment.

David Vernon-Edwards, charity director, said: “Thank you to Meadowhall and all the shoppers who have helped us get to this stage.”
