The section of HS2 rail route which will serve Sheffield is set to generate more money for the area than any other part of the proposed network, a new report claims.

The eastern route of the High Speed 2 network will lead to £5.60 being put into the surrounding economy for every £1 spent building the route through the East Midlands, South and West Yorkshire.

That represents more than twice the £2.60 boost the western route will give to the Manchester area, says Eastern High Speed Rail Network Partnership.
