The Federation of Small Businesses has expressed concern at the levels of freight being handled by Robin Hood Airport.
Figures from the Civil Aviation Authority show that in 2011 102 tonnes of air freight passed through the airport – less than that handled by airports in the Scottish Highlands or the Scilly Isles.
Gordon Millward, of the FSB, said: “The abysmally low volumes of freight passing through is further evidence of the inability of the Sheffield City Region to compete with neighbouring areas.”
