A loved-up couple have become the first to tie the knot at Sheffield’s Manor Lodge.

Sarah Watt, aged 29, and Dave Clover, 27, said ‘I do’ in the turret house of the historic lodge on Manor Lane after it became a licensed venue for wedding ceremonies.

Manor Lodge was once one of the finest Tudor dwellings in the north but decades of decline from the mid 20th century onwards left it in a state of disrepair.

Since 2004 Green Estate has been developing and improving the buildings and landscape.

As part of the revival work, the turret house has become licensed for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies year round, creating a new chapter in the lodge’s history.

Sarah and Dave, from Hackenthorpe, who have been together for nine years, instantly fell in love with the venue after spotting it online.

“It looked so pretty, we liked the historic buildings and the stunning grounds that we thought would make lovely backdrops for our wedding photos.

“We were really excited to discover we’d be the first couple getting married there - it makes it feel extra special.”

The couple, who got engaged last Christmas Eve, said their vows in front of 32 guests in the banqueting suite of the turret house before enjoying drinks and canapés.

They plan to honeymoon in the capital of romance, Paris, later in the year.

Manor Lodge wedding coordinator Shelley Richmond said: “It’s such an intimate venue with a beautiful setting and is also very budget friendly. We hope it will grow to be a really popular wedding venue.”
