Firm seals an ‘Oscar’ for manufacturing
South Yorkshire companies have beaten off tough competition to win top prizes in Britain’s manufacturing ‘Oscars’.
AESSEAL was named Britain’s Best Manufacturer for the second time in the last 10 years at the annual Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Manufacturing Excellence Awards - widely regarded as the top awards presented to industry.
The Rotherham-based mechanical seal maker also picked up its third award for customer focus, having also previously won the award for resources and logistics management.
Joining AESSEAL on the podium was Sheffield firm Loadhog.
The packaging and logistics systems business won Best Small to Medium Sized Enterprise. Its sister company, Gripple, is a previous winner of the Britain’s Best Manufacturer award.
AESSEAL’s chief executive, Jonathan Wilkinson, said: “The company’s mission statement has always been clear: to deliver such exceptional service that our customers need never consider an alternate means of supply.
“Delivering on that promise is difficult – but the business has been designed to achieve it. We have great people who care about customer service, and we give them the tools to deliver.”
Judges who visited AESSEAL’s Bradmarsh Business Park plant said they were particularly impressed by the company’s high customer focus, and the 24/7 nature of the manufacturing process there.
