Energy saving products developer EMSc (UK) has unveiled plans to create a world class research and development centre, that would be “the envy of any Silicon Valley based company.”
EMSc is the company behind the Powerstar range of innovative voltage optimisation technology which cuts energy bills by matching voltage to demand.
It recently brought operations that had been on several sites in Rotherham under one roof at a new facility to be known as EMS House, on St Paul’s Developments’ Smithy Wood Business Park.
In addition to making and testing its Powerstar, Powerstar MAX and Powerstar HV MAX ranges of equipment at the 23,620 sq ft facility, the company is creating a research facility with state-of-the-art technology to drive product development and new innovations.
EMSc is flying the flag for British engineering and manufacturing by insisting all products are fully manufactured in the UK and, wherever possible, components are bought from local suppliers.
Managing director Dr Alex Mardapittas said: “We are extremely excited to have moved into our new facility. We have grown significantly over the last few years to meet the growing market demand for our products.
“Excitingly, and despite the current recession, we are anticipating our growth will continue into 2013, at an even faster pace than we have experienced over the last few years.
“As energy prices continue to rise, our innovative energy saving products are becoming increasingly attractive.”
Powerstar technology works by reducing the voltage supplied to equipment from an average of 242 Volts to 230 Volts, the level at which motors and other rotating equipment are designed to work.
Each Powerstar system is custom wound to match the requirements of an individual site and cuts energy consumption by between 12 per cent and 15 per cent, reducing COs emissions.
It also helps to ensure equipment works more efficiently and lasts longer because the power supply is at its optimum voltage.
