Doncaster village PO may open longer

NEWS: News.

NEWS: News.

Community leaders and Doncaster North MP Ed MIliband have welcomed plans to refurbish a village post office and double its opening hours.

Arksey Post Office, on High Street, will open from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday, if the proposals are agreed – meaning it will trade for 84 hours a week.

Currently it is open from 9am to 5.30pm, closing at 12.30pm on Thursdays and Saturdays, and is closed on Sundays, a total of 41 hours.

Mr Miliband has urged villagers to comment on the plans, announced this week by Post Office bosses.

He said: “The post office in Arksey provides a valuable service for people in the village and I support the plans to extend its opening hours.

“My message to people in the village is – if you value your post office, make your feelings known.”

Bentley ward councillor Charlie Hogarth said: “The post office in Arksey is going from strength to strength. Lots of people would benefit from the extended opening hours.”
