DLA put best foot forwards

Lawyers from Sheffield have helped iconic British footwear brand Dr Martens to increase its footprint in major retail centres across the UK.

Members of DLA Piper’s Real Estate team in Sheffield advised the company when it took out leases on shops in London’s Carnaby Street, Birmingham’s Bullring, Nottingham’s Exchange Arcade and Broadmead in Bristol.

The new Carnaby Street store strengthens Dr Martens’ London presence while the other stores are the first toe in the water for the boot makers in each location.

Dr Martens’ head of UK retail, Debbie Morgan, said: “These new stores are part of our wider plan to develop our offering and meet the growing demand for our footwear across the UK.

“We are grateful to the DLA Piper team for its advice on the leases and look forward to continued success in our new locations.”

DLA Piper’s Mark Keeling said: “Dr Martens is an iconic brand that continues to cultivate a loyal following.

“Each store is situated in a prime retail site and we are pleased to have been able to successfully negotiate the leases on behalf of the Dr Martens team.”
