Data centre due for summer completion
INVESTMENT from a team of business angels has allowed work to start on the South Yorkshire Data Centre.
The project, joint-funded by Yorkshire Forward and Objective One and delivered by Business Link South Yorkshire, has secured the additional 250,000 of working capital needed to begin fitting out the premises.
The boost comes from a group of four investors, led by Norman Shuker, former CEO of Pinnacle Insurance.

"We see real growth potential in South Yorkshire and that growth is going to require world class ICT infrastructure and capabilities," says Mr Shuker. "The South Yorkshire Data Centre project fits well with some of our other investments and we know that this is an attractive region in which to do business."
A lease has now been signed which will locate the South Yorkshire Data Centre (SYDC) at Houndhill Park in the Manvers Enterprise Zone.
Due for completion this summer, the data centre will be located in 20,000 sq ft of customised space. It will initially provide 10,000 sq ft of server space, plus an office, and will deliver standards of reliability and security to match major datacentres in London.
Businesses will be able to secure their data, websites, e-commerce operations and even applications in the centre.
