THREE out of five workers in Sheffield think about finding a new job or changing career at least once a week, according to new research by the National Careers Service.
And many have started the new year determined to make a fresh start, with 35 per cent of those questioned making resolutions to look for a change of job over the next 12 months.
The enthusiasm to find a new challenge is having an impact already, with 26 per cent of staff admitting to using their break time at work to start the job hunt and look for other opportunities.
A further 13 per cent of Sheffield people said that they were currently not working but would like to find a new job this year - a figure slightly higher than the national average of 10 per cent.
Despite this, the survey found barriers stopping employees from taking the plunge.
Over 40 per cent believed they were too old or had missed their chance to access advice, while 27 per cent were unsure if they would be able to afford to leave their current jobs.
Adviser Kathleen Shields said it was important that people sought out the expert support they needed and the National Careers Service offered quality impartial careers advice.
