Christmas shopping is all mapped out by Rotherham traders

TRADERS in Rotherham have launched a new map designed to take the strain out of Christmas shopping.

Shopkeepers joined forces with Rotherham Borough Council for a new guide, modelled on London’s tube map, highlighting places where people can buy gifts as the countdown to the festive period gets under way.

Walking routes are highlighted with colourful lines stretching from the train station to Moorgate, Mansfield Road, College Walk and indoor and outdoor markets.

The idea behind the gift guide was to depart from the traditional town centre directory and pinpoint ideal places where shoppers can stock up on presents.

Traders and the town centre’s retail investment scheme developed the idea with help from the council’s design studio.

It is hoped it will encourage people to shop local.
