Up to half a million people flocked to the stores at Meadowhall for last-minute Christmas shopping, bosses at the centre have revealed.
Best-selling gifts included onesies, Robbie Williams’ new album, Swings Both Ways, former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s autobiography and the Grand Theft Auto V computer game.
The number of shoppers was counted between Friday and yesterday
Meadowhall Centre director Darren Pearce said: “It was the busiest weekend of the year as shoppers made their last-minute preparations.”
Meadowhall is open 9am to 5pm today, closed Christmas Day but reopens at 8am on Boxing Day, when Mr Pearce said that up to 150,000 shoppers are expected through the doors.
