Carbon cuts lead to award

A COUNCIL has received the Carbon Trust standard certificate for the second time.

Barnsley Council has reduced its carbon emissions by 8 per cent year on year since 2009, equivalent to 6,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide.

Mike Rawlins, the council’s partnership and shared service manager, said: “By reducing the amount of emissions we release into the atmosphere we can help to significantly improve the air quality within Barnsley as well as contributing towards global efforts around climate change.”
