Car park helps provide toilets

the pay-and-display car park in Bawtry has helped town councillors hold their council tax demand at the same level for nine years in succession.

In a new year message Mayor George Spencer said: “Councillors have once again been able to set the precept that is paid by residents at the non-inflationary rate of £26,000.

“The council is also very pleased to be in a financial position where it can continue to fund the town’s public toilets on Gainsborough Road that had been closed several years ago as part of cost saving measures.”

Income from the car park meant Bawtry Town Council could rent and pay for the management of the facility to satisfy demands from businesses, residents and visitors who said Bawtry needed its own toilets.
