Sheffield Council is backing a campaign to encourage residents and shoppers to support local small businesses in the city this weekend.
Small Business Saturday is encouraging UK residents to support their local firms this Saturday and beyond.
This Saturday is expected to be one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
Coun Leigh Bramall, Sheffield Council’s cabinet member for business, skills and development, said: “Sheffield has a strong heritage in supporting and encouraging small business and Small Business Saturday is a great way for us to all get involved. It’s about reconnecting people with the small businesses in their areas and demonstrating the enormous value that they bring to our economy.”
Andrew Flower, South Yorkshire chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses, said: “We hope this will remind people to make use of their local small businesses so the enterprise community may thrive and grow and continue to generate jobs and wealth to support economic recovery.”
