Business park moves step nearer

PROPOSALS for the redevelopment of a rural business park in the Peak District have passed the first hurdle to getting planning permission.

Owners of the Rockmill Business Park at Stoney Middleton, near Bakewell, want to redevelop the site and create a heritage centre with a café and community facility, craftwork units, retail space, a car park and tourist accommodation.

The planning committee has recommended outline planning permission should be granted - despite it being an ‘exception’ to its policies which do not normally allow new-build holiday accommodation or development outside a village boundary.

The decision must now be rubber-stamped at a full meeting of the national park authority.
