RAILWAY chiefs could be set to face a grilling from passengers in Doncaster next month.
Bosses from train operator East Coast are giving travellers the chance to vent their feelings about services with an open meeting at the railway station - when topics such as delays, cancellations and other problems could all be aired by regular users.
The Meet the Manager event on January 31 is designed to give passengers the chance to complain about rail services and put their questions to bosses about improvements they’d like to see in the area.
Doncaster station manager Simon Pashley said: “We hope that customers will take a break from their journeys and use the opportunity to share their views with us.
“We want to talk to customers about East Coast’s train services, our timetable and customer service.”
East Coast managers will be on the main concourse between 5pm and 6.30pm to meet rail users in person and listen to grievances, suggestions and comments.
The event is part of East Coast’s ongoing customer engagement programme, enabling customers to meet management teams face to face and discuss what they like about the service and where East Coast can improve it still further.
Previous Meet the Manager sessions at other stations on the East Coast Main Line have proved a great success.
Mr Pashley added: “Doncaster is the best served station on our route outside London and we really value the feedback we get from our customers.”
In recent months, Doncaster has been at the centre of a string of rail tragedies with youngster Emma Lifsey killed on a level crossing at Misson Springs in December, the same day that Stainforth railworker Scott Dobson was killed in an accident at Saxilby. And this month, two people were killed in separate accidents at Adwick while a woman was injured at Thorne South station.
Earlier this month Network Rail announced plans to upgrade the UK’s rail infrastructure with a multi-billion pound programme.
