Bus strikes end as deal agreed

a REVISED pay deal has been accepted by bus drivers who have been staging strikes since November.

Stagecoach services in Barnsley, Rotherham and the Dearne Valley are to return to normal after the deal was accepted by the Unite union.

In a ballot yesterday drivers voted to accept Stagecoach’s latest pay offer, ruling out any further industrial action.

Paul Lynch, Stagecoach Yorkshire managing director, said: “We are pleased the union has accepted our latest offer and now look forward to putting this matter behind us. Most importantly, it means our passengers will no longer have their bus services disrupted by unnecessary strike action.

“Throughout this action we continued to run services for customers by drafting in staff from across the UK.”
