Building work starts on homes

Building work has begun on 26 new homes in a Rotherham village.

The Churchfields development is on a 1.95 – acre site, near Bawtry Road, Wickersley, which used to house a nursing home.

Building firm Charles Church is behind the scheme of three-, four- and five-bedroom detached homes, due to be finished in March.

Simon Whalley, sales director, said the homes should appeal to a range of people, including first-time buyers.

He said: “Its location in the heart of the community means a selection of schools, leisure facilities, parks and local amenities are all within just a mile.”
