Chip off the old block Josh Kelly is following in his father’s footsteps – signing up as an apprentice bricklayer with Ben Bailey Homes, working alongside his dad.

The 17-year-old is already hard at work at the company’s College Gardens development at Wood Lane in Stannington, Sheffield, where his dad, Simon Kelly, also works as a bricklayer.

Josh said: “I am really excited to be given the chance to join Ben Bailey and I’m looking forward to learning on the job.

“My dad has been helping me out with my training and it’s great to know I can count on him for support, as well as the rest of the construction team.”

Construction director Ian Featherstone said: “We are delighted to be able to take on young people of Josh’s calibre and look forward to seeing his career develop.”

Josh is the first apprentice to be taken on by Ben Bailey Homes since 2008. The firm’s new contracts manager, Aaron Stocks, is himself a former apprentice bricklayer.
