Bigger buses on busy route
BIGGER buses are being introduced on one of Sheffield’s most popular services in a £600,000 investment by Stagecoach.
Passenger growth on the Supertram Link service between Middlewood and Stocksbridge means the fleet of 27-seater vehicles which have been operating on the route since it launched in 2007 are no longer large enough.
The Supertram Link, which connects with yellow route tram services into the city centre and beyond, has recorded more than 600,000 passenger journeys in the last 12 months - a 10 per cent increase on the previous year.
Five new single-decker buses have been launched which have 37 seats, are wheelchair and buggy-friendly.
