Apprentices given an Insight into company operations

A pioneering apprentice-ship scheme, developed in Sheffield, could be rolled out across Europe.

The scheme has been devised by IT products and services company Insight Technology Solutions and training specialist The Source.

It is designed to give new members of staff at Insight's Attercliffe centre a chance to find out how the company operates overall and the way each department contributes to the business, opening the way to a career in a number of different disciplines.

Apprentices spend 30 months on the programme, during which they can work within four different areas of operation or opt to stay in one area. Once they have completed the apprenticeship, staff can take up further training and development opportunities as they progress with the firm.

Insight's Hayley Buxton said: "Each apprentice has gone above and beyond to meet our expectations and the scheme has been such a success, we are encouraging other areas of Insight to follow suit.

"We have a great partnership with The Source and this is reflected in how much the apprentices enjoy their work."
