Ambitious art entrepreneurs are seeing the big picture

Forever Canvas, the Sheffield-based business that turns holiday snaps into works of art, is heading for expansion.

The Devonshire Quarter business's customers include celebrities, interior designers, retailers, artists, amateur photographers, doting relatives and people looking for something different to brighten up their homes.

After seeing a six-fold increase in business during the past two years, the company, which prints photographs on canvas, is now targeting further growth from the retail market.

"We are busier than we have ever been," says Sam Joyce, who runs the Devonshire Business Park company with founder Terry Coupe.

The duo have been working hard at building the business, attending a series of exhibitions across the country since dipping their toe in the water at Britain's leading giftware exhibition, the Spring Fair, at the start of the year.

"Exhibitions have been fantastic for us. We'll be at an exhibition in the New Forest in July and in Scotland in August," says Sam Joyce.

That demonstrates how far the small Eldon Street firm is prepared to go in its drive for further growth.

Forever Canvas plans to build on its success at shows by appointing a northern representative to contact more retailers, print shops and art galleries who could offer its services to customers or sell its range of stock photographic images, printed on canvas.

And a southern representative could follow.

The company is also hoping to boost internet sales with a new version of its website - www.forevercanvas.co.uk.

It is making the site more user-friendly, and using it to sell gallery pictures to the public.
