A4e founder wins women's award

SHEFFIELD entrepreneur Emma Harrison has been named joint winner of the Public Service award at at the First Women Awards.

Emma, who founded A4e, the city-based training and business services company, which operates in 11 countries, employs more than 3,300 people and has an annual turnover of 200 million, shared the award with Caroline Shaw, a former midwife, who is now chief executive of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

They were among 11 women who were presented with awards which were launched six years ago to recognise women at the top of their professions who are leading the way for the next generation.

n Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has met with Sheffield Forgemasters' chairman Tony Pedder.

Mr Pedder is also chairman of NHS Sheffield and the meeting was arranged primarily to discuss health service issues.

A Forgemasters spokesman said: "The 80 million government loan to Sheffield Forgemasters was also discussed, but not in specific detail."

Earlier Mr Clegg met city business leaders.
